Useful Tips for Having Fun in the Summer While Being Water Conscious
It’s important that your children learn the true value of water conservation at an early age. You have the chance to educate them on the importance of water and its role in our daily lives.
This summer season you can also show them while enjoying time outdoors with family and friends. To help guide you in conserving water as your kids play outdoors this year, we’re highlighting several useful tips for being water-conscious while still enjoying the water-play experience.
Use Sponges Instead of Water Balloons
They might be a fun way to spend a few hours each summer, but water balloon fights are among the clearest wastes of water. Hundreds of gallons can be wasted each fight, depending on the number of participants.
And so, a great alternative is to use sponges. Instead of releasing all their water on contact, sponges are designed to hold on to water over time. And so, kids can spend hours of fun in the summer sun without using water balloons and wasting significant amounts of water.
Play Skip the Water Stream
By creating a water stream with your hoses in the back yard, you can build a water skipping rope that can be lots of fun for all members of the family to enjoy.
Place the hose nozzle at the far end of the yard facing the house-end of the garden and then spray the water at a short height. The spray of the water can then be used as a test of the person’s jumping abilities.
Over time, those in control of the game can raise the height of the water to make the game more challenging. To help conserve water resources, make sure that you and your family only play this game when the grass and plants need to be watered.
Try a Water Piñata
Playing with a water piñata can be a lot of fun and a great way for kids to enjoy the summer season. Simply fill a water balloon halfway and then tie the balloon to a tree.
Kids can then take turns trying to burst the piñata and release the water inside. Compared with many of the other popular outside water sports, it’s a great way to minimize the use of water resources while keeping children entertained.
